The problem

Hiring in the barbershop industry is broken. When a shop owner needs a barber, they post on Instagram, ask around, or just hope someone walks in. When a barber wants a new chair, they drive around town checking windows for "barber wanted" signs. There's no central place where the two sides meet.

Meanwhile, every other industry has had hiring platforms for years. Barbershops — an industry with over 100,000 shops in the US alone — have nothing.

Our solution

Barber Recruit is building the marketplace that connects both sides. Shop owners claim their listing, post open chairs, set their compensation, and receive applications from qualified barbers. Barbers build a profile showcasing their work, browse shops by location and fit, and apply with one click.

We started in New Jersey because we know this market. Every barbershop in the state is already on the platform — even before launch — so barbers can browse real shops from day one.

For Barbers

Browse every barbershop in NJ. Compare compensation, culture, and location. Build a portfolio shop owners actually see. Always free.

For Shop Owners

Claim your listing and make it yours. Post open chairs with your comp structure. Receive applications from barbers who know what you offer.

Better Matches

When both sides see the full picture before applying, everyone wins. Fewer bad fits, faster hires, less turnover.

Andrew Le founded Barber Recruit after seeing the same problem play out across New Jersey — and across the industry. Every shop has tech for booking clients. Almost none have tech for finding barbers.

When a shop owner needs a barber, the playbook is still Instagram posts, word of mouth, and hoping someone walks in. When a barber wants a new chair, they drive around looking for "barber wanted" signs. Restaurants have Poached. Healthcare has Vivian. Barbershops — an industry with over 100,000 shops in the US — deserve their own marketplace.

Barber Recruit is that marketplace. Andrew started in New Jersey because it's a market the team knows deeply — mapping every licensed shop in the state so barbers can browse real listings and shop owners can claim theirs from day one.

The goal is simple: give barbers a professional path to the right chair, and give shop owners a faster way to build the team their shop deserves — then expand state by state until the whole industry has what it should have had years ago.

"Every shop has tech for booking clients. None of them have tech for finding barbers. That's what we're fixing."
